Reel Legacy in America
The Clubhouse
There are hours of recordings on the old reel to reel tapes. Most of them were done in the famous "clubhouse" which sat above the garage at the family home on 51st & Loomis. We heard mix tapes of cherished songs recorded from records and radio, along with singing, goofing around, musical performances, laughter, and fun.
This section includes a variety of special gems that were found while cultivating this material from the clubhouse.

Enjoy!
Ron & Don Practice the song Danke Schoen

This recording features Ron on clarinet and Don on trumpet and their rehearsal of the song "Danke Schoen". It also features Don at the end working out his chops on the famous song "Tequila".
Ford Galaxy 500 City

Before being drafted into the Army, Ron's pride and joy was his Ford Galaxy 500. Helen sent him a package of "important looking letters" she received in his name while he was away. They turned out to be dozens of parking tickets that no one ever admitted to receiving.
The evidence revealing the masked parking bandit was found on the reels...having been recorded by Don & friends from inside the car. It was an especially tender moment when this recording was unearthed while Ron & Don were together in the same room.
The Unknowns

A variety of funny recordings were made in the clubhouse by some unknown musical artists. Here are a few favorites.
Classic Radio

The tapes recorded a few precious moments of classic radio from the day. They are included here in order to bring back the old memories and feature some unknown mystery DJs.
Close Lisak family friend Patrick Doody provided the reel-to-reel machine used to recover this cherished audio.
We would like to offer our sincere thanks for his help and friendship!
